Not sure how accurate this information is but thought it was interesting. Found through ancestry.com
Richard Spires Sr. was born native of Maryland in 1754, English descent.He married Rebecca Gentle in Feb. 1787. They came to Ohio in 1812.
He soldiered under General George Washington for 3 years. He was a private in the Maryland Continental. He enlisted July 10, 1781, in Maryland and served 3 years. During which time he was severely wounded. Soldier died March 3, 1838, in Brown County, Ohio His marker inscription reads: "Richard Spires, Md. Line, Revolutionary War". Pension application May 1, 1818, and Apr. 5, 1821; both in Brown County, Ohio. Widow applied in Brown County, Ohio in October, 1840.
Richard Spires Sr. is buried in the Young Cemetery, Sec. 6, lot 4, grave 1, with a Gov. marker, 1/2 mile south of New Hope, Ohio, in Scott Twp.
Their children are:
1. William S. Spires born 1785 and died in 1856.
2. Mary "Polly" Spires born 1788 and died before March 3, 1838.
3. Richard Spires Jr. born 1789 and died 1826.
4. Nancy Spires born December 2, 1796 and died March 15, 1884.
5. Sarah "Sally" Spires born April 13, 1800 and died in 1887. She married in 1825 to Nicholas Smith who was born in September, 1801 in Mason County, Kentucky, and died in 1876, the son of Benjamin Smith of Brown County, Ohio.
6. Elizabeth Spires born 1802 and died October 17, 1877.
7. John Spires born March 27, 1803, and died August 4, 1889. John was born in Westmoreland Co., PA. He married Rebecca Hill.
8. Darcus Spires born 1805 and died?
9. Henry Spires born 1807 and died? He is buried in the Curlew Cemetery in Fairmont, Adams County, Illinois.
10. Jane Spires born Febuary 4, 1811 and died?
Richard Spires Sr. son is John Spires.
John Spires son is Elmer Spires.
Elmer Spires son was Charlie Spires.
Charlie Spires daughter is Josie Cathrine Spires
( Davis).
